There are several ways that you can make a bequest or gift through your will
to ICDRI. The provision you choose will depend upon your circumstances, what
type of property you wish to bequeath, and your other obligations. The kinds of
bequests you can make are:
Specific Bequest: This is where you bequeath a specific sum of cash or
other property for a program you name or for ICDRI's use where most needed. Here
is some suggested wording for making a specific bequest:
"I bequeath to the International Center for Disability Resources on the
Internet, Raleigh, North Carolina, the sum of $_________________, to be used by
said corporation for its general purposes."
Residuary Bequest: In this case you bequeath a specified percentage or
all of the assets remaining in your estate after other expenses and bequests
have been paid.
Contingent Bequest: In this case you direct that a specific amount or a
percentage of your estate be paid to ICDRI, only if your other beneficiary (is)
does not survive you.
Your attorney can provide the proper language for the bequest you choose. The
information provided is for general educational purposes only. For advice and
assistance in specific cases ICDRI recommends that you seek the services of a
legal or financial advisor.
