Introduction

Paying for college is difficult at best, The Center has collected some resources we hope will assist parents of students with disabilities and the students themselves who are looking for college financial aid and or student financial aid. One of the best resources we have found is the Fastweb college Scholarship site which is listed above.This page is devoted to resources for disabled students in need of financial aid. At the moment it is centered around the U. S. We would like to gather information for students from all over the world. Everyone should be able to get financial aid for school if they need it. Most colleges and Universities in the U. S. have a disability office as part of the student services organization. So check with each school that you or you child wishes to attend to see what each school has as well.

Vocational Rehabilitation, also known as "VR," is a US Department of Labor program that helps people who have disabilities to get and keep a job. VR helps people who have physical, mental, or emotional disabilities. This can and does include payment for appropriate education and other services to qualify for and secure successful employment.

If you have a learning problem or disability check the college or University that you are interested in to see if they have a Disabled Student Program. Make an appointment and talk with a person there. Most Universities now have a department for disabled students. Please note make sure to learn what all they can offer the student in regards to equipment and their disability.

TPA Scholarship Trust for the Deaf and Near Deaf

The Travelers Protective Association of America established the TPA Scholarship Trust for the Deaf and Near Deaf in 1975 to provide financial aid to children and adults who suffer deafness or hearing impairment and who need assistance in obtaining mechanical devices, medical or specialized treatment or specialized education as well as speech classes, note takers, interpreters, etc. and in other areas of need that are directly related to hearing impairment.
